Carne Guisada Recipe (PR Style)

This is an authentic Puerto Rican dish. Carne Guisada is translated to Beef Stew in English. I cooked this is a pot, but you can definitely throw it all in a crockpot on low for about 8 hours.

Here are the ingredients that really make it Puerto Rican style. You can find these items in the Spanish food section of the supermarket.

Tomato sauce, sofrito, sazon and adobo. Not pictured is about 2 lbs of beef stew meat, onions, peppers, garlic powder, salt and potatoes.

I cut the meat into cubes and heated over medium high heat in olive oil.

Cook on all sides until brown.

Add onions and peppers.

Add the whole can of tomato sauce, few spoonfuls of sofrito, packet of sazon.

Add water. You want to put enough to cover all of the ingredients. I used about 2 cups.

Add garlic powder and salt to taste.

Bring the heat down to low. Let it simmer for at least 30 minutes. Let it go longer for a better flavor.

About 30 minutes before serving, you should add about 2 chopped potatoes. I didn't have any potatoes but let's pretend I did :)

Make sure you serve this with some white rice. Of course I forgot to take a picture of that too. I was too hungry to remember lol

Yummo! & yes that's my toddler's fork. Ahhh the life of a mom :) Enjoy!
