Hand Bones Craft For Kids

How cool are these hand "bones"? Recently Frankie has shown an interest in the human body. "Look mama! I have skin! What is blood? Look, I have bones!" I always try my best to answer each question so a 3 year old can understand. So then I thought, "how about we do a craft about it." After doing some reading together and watching some fun youtube videos about bones, we were ready for some hands on learning.

Here's what you'll need:
Q-tips
red paint
paint brush/sponge
markers
glue

Start by taking a marker and tracing both hands. Maybe try a darker color since the yellow didn't stand out against the red paint.

After tracing the hands, ask questions and make comments like "Here are our hands, what do we have inside? Blood! So let's get our blood and make sure we put it back into our hands. Make sure it's all covered in blood. Now that we have the blood back in our hands, what's missing? Bones! Let's try to put the bones back in our hands!"

(I tried to replace the yellow marker with brown paint so the fingers could stand out better.)
You can use glue sticks, glitter glue, or even dip q-tips in glue. Really works on find motor skills.
Couting as you go along. "How many bones did we put? 4! Okay, how many more do we need? 1 more for 5 fingers!"

There you have it! This was a really fun way to go over biology and even math! Super fun! After we finished the hands, Frankie wanted to do more. I asked which body part we should trace and he said "Hip!" haha! He definitely understood the concept. We ended up tracing his arm since it would be easier to fit on a piece of paper.

Please try this one! It's simple, fun and educational!

As always, feel free to share on fb and pinterest!

Thanks for reading!
