Planting Seeds With Your Child

 Hey friends!

So originally, I wanted to do this project on the first day of spring (3/20) but I'm impatient. Especially since today the temperate got up to 50 degrees. Woo hoo! The seeds are supposed to sprout in about a week, so just in time for spring I hope. This is a very inexpensive and fun activity!

Here's what you'll need:
- Seeds
- Plastic bag
- Cotton Balls
- Cup of Water
- Marker
- Tape

We went to the store and I let Frankie pick out 5 packages of seeds. Then I used construction paper to cut out a house to put the seeds in. I ended up laminating it so it will last, and because I love to laminate things, lol.

We opened a pack of seeds one at a time. I labeled the ziplock back with the name. We touched the seeds and talked about the texture.

After putting 3 seeds in each ziplock bag, Frankie zipped a cotton ball in the water. 3 cotton balls in each bag. It was a great way to count the seeds and notice the difference in the textures between the seeds and the cotton balls.

Is it smooth? Is it squishy? Is it hard? Is it rough? Is it soft? Can we taste it? Should we eat it?

It was also cool to observe that we started with a full cup of water and were only left with a little bit by the end.

Where did the water go? Did you drink it? Did the cotton balls soak it up?

TaDAAA! All 5 seeds planted. Now the hard part is to wait. We taped them on the balcony door.

It was a little hard to see since it was so bright outside, so I waited a few hours and took a final picture. Don't mind the contact paper on the bottom, lol. Sticky paper is fun!

I'm so excited to update in a few days on the growth. It was a blast to do. Frankie kept saying "I'm happy planting, mama!" Too cute!

Thanks for reading, I hope this post was helpful. Now go and start planting! :)

***UPDATE*** Here's some photos up the seeds 14 days later. Only 2 have started to grow.

So COOL!
