Homemade Twix Recipe

saw this recipe on The Chew and I have been DYING to try it! I'm so glad I did, it's delicious! Let's jump right into it :)

Ingredients:
- 90 thin buttery crackers
- 2 bags semi sweet chocolate chips
- 3/4 C white sugar
- 1/2 C milk (I used almond milk)
- 3/4 C brown sugar
- 3/4 C butter (1.5 sticks)
- 1 1/4 C graham cracker crumbs
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil

1. Spray a 9"x13" baking pan with cooking spray.

2. Line it with foil and cover it with cooking spray again.

3. Line the bottom of the pan with an even, single layer of crackers.

4. In a medium saucepan, combine milk, butter, sugar and brown sugar.

5. Bring to a boil, whisking occasionally.

6. I found it easiest to put 6 graham crackers in a ziplock and crush to make the crumbs.

7. Add the graham cracker crumbs and boil for 5 more minutes. Whisk as needed. The mixture will darken and thicken.

8. Remove from heat and pour half over the crackers. Use a rubber spatula to spread it evenly.

9. Add a layer of crackers on top.

10. Pour the remaining mixture on top.

11. Finally, add one last layer of crackers. Let it set at room temperature for 2 hours until firm.

12. Now take your bag of chocolate chips and place it in a microwave safe bowl. You can use white, milk, dark or semi sweet chocolate chips. Place it in the microwave in intervals of 30 seconds until fully melted. Then add the vegetable oil.

13. Break apart the bars by the cracker seems. If you used regular sized crackers then you will need to cut them again lengthwise. The crackers I used were already rectangles so I didn't need to cut it again.

14. Dip the bars in the chocolate.

15. Shake off the excess chocolate and place on aluminum foil to set.

There you have it! They're SO good and last a long time too. I still have some in my fridge in a zip lock bag. The original recipe called for 1 bag of chocolate chips but I didn't have enough to cover all of the bars. So I suggest using 2 bags. These were the leftover bars.

This is what they look like before dipped in chocolate. Yummers!

And after being dipped in chocolate.

These bars are very filling. Eating one will satisfy your sweet tooth.

Try this recipe out! Let me know how it comes out. Feel free to share this post on Facebook and pin it on Pinterest.
